There are now four submarine cables connecting Brunei: LBC - Labuan Brunei Cable. Riding on the strong growth in IP-based traffic, Brunei has successfully lighted up 10 Tbps of international capacity to fuel bandwidth demand. Brunei Darussalam is shaping up as a bandwidth transit hub for the Bornean States of Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan. When you surf the Internet, you access a variety of platforms including YouTube, Netflix, Instagram – these are all 'content. ' These content needs to be accessed from somewhere, in most cases, from the US or China region. The Southeast Asia-Japan Cable, generally referenced as SJC, is an 8,900-kilometre pan-Asia submarine cable system connecting Telisai in Brunei, Chung Hom Kok on Hong Kong Island, Shantou on the Chinese mainland, Chikura on Japan's Pacific coast, Nasugbu in the Philippines, and Tuas in Singapore.
