What does JDAL in the distribution box represent
The JDAL is the position management file of the JDAMIS that the CJCS manages. This instruction establishes procedures and responsibilities for implementation of the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Officer Management (JOM) and Joint Qualification System (JQS) for Active Component (AC) and Reserve Component (RC) officers. Joint matters relate to "the achievement of unified action by integrated military forces (planning or execution) in land/sea/air operations—or the information environment. " Only permanent JDA positions, where an officer gains significant experience in joint matters, may be designated as JDAL. Positions designated as joint duty assignments are reflected in a list approved by the Secretary of Defense and maintained by the Joint Staff.
