West Africa Span Bridge
A long-span hybrid suspension-suspended crossing in remote western Uganda has been designed, modelled and constructed through a partnership between Engineers Without Borders and HDR. The Senegambia bridge, also known as the Trans-Gambia Bridge, is a bridge in The Gambia that carries the Trans-Gambia Highway connecting northern and southern Gambia. It also provides access to the isolated Casamance province from the rest of Senegal. This bridge not only connects the east and west banks of the Nile River but also serves as a vital transportation artery for the bustling city of Cairo. The Longest bridges in Africa have supported trade, urban growth, improved regional access, and reduced transport time. A phased reconstruction programme is under way on the suspension bridges at Storms River Mouth in Garden Route National Park.
