Beware of radiation in fiber optic distribution boxes
Germanium-doped core fibers can be radiation hard even at high concentrations of germanium. Fiber distribution boxes (often referred to as fiber distribution boxes or ODF boxes) do not themselves produce significant radiation. In recent years, optical fibers have found extensive use in special environments, including high-energy radiation scenarios like nuclear explosion diagnostics and reactor monitoring. However, radiation exposure, such as X-rays, gamma rays, and neutrons, can compromise fiber safety and reliability.
