They are the bridge between fiber optic cables in the field and the equipment or patch panels that manage them. Fiber splicing technology primarily uses a fusion splicer to connect fibers with fibers or fibers with fiber pigtails, splicing the bare fibers in the optical cable with the fiber in the fiber pigtails, forming an integrated unit where the fiber pigtail has an individual fiber optic head.
